Veselinka Zecevic, PhD was born in 1963 in Bijelo Polje, (Montenegro).

She graduated at the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Belgrade, (Field Crops department) in 1986 with graduate thesis: "Genetic identification of different varieties of winter wheat (Triticum aestivum ssp. vulgare)". She gained Master degree at the same Faculty with Thesis: "Investigation of influence of the degree of maturity of seeds of winter wheat on its biological and agricultural value". Defending of the doctoral thesis “Genetic identification of different varieties of wither wheat (Triticum aestivum ssp. vulgare)” at the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Novi Sad, gave her the title of PhD in 1996. She became a Research Associate in 1997, Senior Research Associate in 2002 and Principal Research Fellow in 2007. In 2008 she gained the title of Lecturer at the Faculty of Biofarming in Backa Topola, University of Megatrend in Belgrade for the field of “Biotechnology in plant production”.

From 1988 till 2008 she worked at the Institute for Agricultural Research SERBIA, Centre for Small Grains, (Kragujevac) where she was Head of the Laboratory Quality Control of Grains and Flour and the Head of the Scientific Work (2003-2007). Since 2008 till 2021 she was a Lecturer Professor at the Faculty of Biofarming, Backa Topola. Since May 2021 she joined the Institute for Vegetable Crops at the Department for Genetics and Vegetable Breeding.

She was the author or the co-author of more than 300 references that have been cited in Serbian and foreign scientific literature. She was the co-author of 4 wheat varieties. She participated on many national and international conferences, symposia and congresses. She was engaged on scientific work in many projects (18) as a Head of the Research Team. She was a mentor, president and a member of proof reading commission of many Bachelor, Master and Doctoral Thesis at the Faculty of Biofarming. She was also the President and the Member of the Board for electing researchers in research, scientific and lecture degrees.

She participated in definition and realisation of national and international conferences. She was the proof reader of many national and international Conference proceedings and national projects. She was the editor in many Scientific Journals, such as: Genetics, Journal of Central European Agriculture, Journal of Plant Breeding and Crop Science, African Journal of Agriculture Research, African Journal of Biotechnology, Polish Journal of Natural Science, Kragujevac Journal of Science, Journal of Agricultural Sciences, Field and Vegetable Crops, Chemical Industry, Agricultural Economy, Philippine Agricultural Scientist.

Veselinka Zecevic, PhD is a member of the “Serbian Genetic Society”, “Serbian Association of Plant Breeders and Seed producers” and “Developing Academy of Agriculture of Serbia” Scientific filed: Biotechnological sciences – agriculture; Plant Breeding; Seed Production; Technological Quality of Wheat Seed.
